Agatha Aimar Glover Ricks passed away peacefully, Saturday, January 28, 2012 at the home of her daughter.
Mrs. Ricks was born on February 21, 1922 in Charleston. She was the daughter of the late Charlesworth Francis Glover and Richardine Hart Jenkins Glover.
She was a graduate of Memminger High School in Charleston. She was a graduate of St. Francis Xavier School of Nursing and The Catholic University in 1943. After graduation she worked for Dr. Mathew Steinberg for several years. In 1987 she retired from Charleston County School District after working as a registered school nurse for 30 years. She was a lifetime member of the Church of the Holy Communion, and several organizations including the Azalea Chapter 192, Order of the Eastern Star. She was an avid traveler, and enjoyed crocheting, playing piano, and dancing.
She married George Thayer Ricks, Sr. in 1948. Out of this marriage they had two children; George Thayer Ricks Jr. and Agatha Glover Ricks, and one grandson Craig Joseph (Joey) Mathis.
She was preceded in death by her former husband, George Thayer Ricks, Sr. and son, George Thayer Ricks, Jr.; son-in-law, Craig Joseph Mathis, Sr.; Sisters, Audrey Glover Myers, and Olive Glover Peeler.
Mrs. Ricks is survived by her daughter, Agatha Glover Ricks; a grandson, Craig (Joey) Mathis; several cousins, nieces and nephews. She lived life to the fullest and will be missed by many.
A Requiem Mass will be offered on Wednesday, February 1st, 2012 at 11:00 am at the Church of the Holy Communion. Interment will follow at Live Oak Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends on Tuesday, January 31, 2012 from 6:00 until 8:00 at J. HENRY STUHR INC., WEST ASHLEY CHAPEL, 3360 Glenn McConnell Parkway.
