Adgie Elsey Blackman, 77, of Charleston, SC, wife of Malone James Blackman, Sr., entered into eternal rest on the afternoon of December 10, 2011. The relatives and friends of Mr. and Mrs. Malone James Blackman, Sr. are invited to attend her funeral services Thursday, December 15, 2011 at Pinecrest Baptist Church at 11 am. Burial will follow at White Church Cemetery, Hwy. 165, Ravenel, SC. The family will receive friends Wednesday at J. HENRY STUHR, INC., WEST ASHLEY CHAPEL from 5 until 7 pm.
Born on March 28, 1934 in Charleston, SC, Adgie was the daughter of the late Eugene Edward Elsey and the late Adgie Margaret Morris Elsey. Adgie was a member of Pinecrest Baptist Church. She was a retired seamstress, member of James Island Chapter No. 284 Order of the Eastern Star, Lawrence Howell Court Order of Amaranth, and Milcah Temple Daughters of the Nile.
In addition to her husband, Malone James Blackman, Sr., of Charleston, surviving are her two sons, M. James (Cynthia) Blackman, Jr. and Henry Maxie Blackman both of Charleston; two brothers, Eugene Edward Elsey, Jr. of Taplow Berkshire, England, George W. Elsey of Branford, FL; and a sister, Patricia A. (Richard) Kopf of James Island. "Adg" is also survived by three grandchildren, Corey James Blackman, Addison Taylor Blackman, Henry "Max" Blackman; two adopted grandchildren, Andrew Hutto and Madison Hutto; and a great niece, Kelsey Ann Parkhurst. Adgie was preceded in death by her daughter, Linda Diane Blackman and her nephew, Eugene Edward Parkhurst.
