Adelle Pritzker Lapin, formerly of Charleston, SC and New Haven, CT, died Monday, March 14, 2011, at age 93 in Dunwoody, GA.
Raised in St. Louis, she and her late husband Reuben married in 1939 and relocated to Charleston, SC, the same year. She worked at Weil's Mattress Co. and later the Southwestern Life Insurance Co.
She was devoted to her family and enjoyed entertaining and welcoming people into her home. She was a long-standing member of KKBE and developed a community of friends that sustained her for over 65 years. She volunteered in many activities of her children, local garden club, and held many positions in the Temple Sisterhood on a local and regional level. She extended her southern hospitality by sharing her love for KKBE with visitors as a Temple guide for twenty years. An avid reader, she was rarely seen without a book at her side.
A longtime Charleston resident, she is survived by three children: Esther Lapin (Mt. Pleasant), Karen Cohen (Rockville, MD) and Richard Lapin (Dunwoody, GA). She leaves six grandchildren Eric Lapin; Michelle and Sharon Lapin; Rachel, Emily, and Stephen Cohen; and great granddaughter Amanda Lapin.
Graveside services will be held 2:00 p.m. at the Kahal Kadosh Beth Elohim (KKBE) Huguenin Avenue Cemetery. Memorial donations may be made in lieu of flowers to Kahal Kadosh Beth Elohim, 90 Hasell Street, Charleston, SC, 29401 or to a charity of one's choice. Funeral arrangements by J.
