Adeline
Dojahn
Sep 11, 1933 — May 14, 2026
From San Jose California, to family and friends across borders and oceans:
It is with a saddened heart that my family and I convey to you the passing of my beloved wife, Adeline Dojahn. Adeline was a very much loved mother, grandmother, great grandmother, aunt, cousin, and oldest sibling to two sisters and three brothers. Adeline had been suffering from Alzheimers for over 8 years and was in hospice care in our home when the call from Heaven came to free her. Adeline closed her eyes for her final rest on May 14, 2026, also Ascension Day for the Christian faith.
Adeline will be laid to rest in Mount Pleasant, South Carolina where our youngest daughter Tanja Ashe lives. Adeline was preceded in death by her oldest child, Roy Dieter Dojahn. Adeline is also survived by our oldest daughter Carmen Dojahn-Wood who lives in England. Visitation is open to family and friends at J. Henry Stuhr funeral home 1494 Mathis Ferry Rd, Mount Pleasant, SC on Friday May 22nd between 5-7 pm. Graveside service May 23rd will be private to immediate family only. A celebration of life will take place at a later date in San Jose, California.
Adeline was born to parents Martha and Reinhold Klappstein in 1933 in Kurasch, Poland which today is part of Ukraine. When her ancestors immigrated there from Germany, the region was part of Southern Russia. It seems difficult for our Western Culture to comprehend that if one lived long enough, they could have lived in three different countries, had three different citizenships, all without ever leaving their house.
Before reaching California, Adie lived 20 years in Germany and 14 years in Canada. When the Klappstein family relocated from Poland to Germany in 1946, Adeline entered a household economic school. Immigrating to Canada in 1953, she became a lab technician with the province of Alberta. After marriage with Klaus and two children , the family moved to California in 1965 where Adie became office manager of the family electrical business. Before final retirement, she was a pastry chef in a local catering business which she loved. Finally came time for travel and cruises. She truly had a full life.
Adeline passed at age 92. I am so grateful that she spent 66 years of her life with me.
In the love of Jesus Christ,
Klaus
