Adele Ackerman Rosebrock, 95, of Mount Pleasant, South Carolina, wife of the late George Luther Rosebrock, Sr. died Sunday, March 31, 2013. The relatives and friends of Adele Rosebrock are invited to attend her Funeral Service on Thursday, April 4, 2013 at Rodenberg Chapel at Franke at Seaside, 1885 Rifle Range Road, Mt. Pleasant at 10:30 am. Burial will follow in Carolina Memorial Park. ARRANGEMENTS BY J. HENRY STUHR, INC. MOUNT PLEASANT CHAPEL. The family will greet friends at Rodenberg Chapel one hour prior to the service.
Adele was born on May 9, 1917 in Cottageville, South Carolina, daughter of the late Martin Luther Ackerman and Essie Smith Ackerman . She graduated from Cottageville High School and received a Bachelor of Arts degree in Mathematics from Winthrop College. She taught school for 27 years. One year in Vienna, GA, one year in Lodge, SC and 25 years in Cooper River School District in Ben Tillman and Brentwood Schools. She served as President of Cooper River Teachers Association, a delegate to the Southeast National Teachers Association Conference of Classroom Teachers in Atlantic City. She retired in 1975 and was a member of Alpha Delta Kappa international Teachers Sorority and served as President of Chapters Gamma and Fedelis Gamma. Adele also served as President of Charleston County Retired Teachers Association and served as Treasurer of Franke Home Auxiliary. She was a member of Advent Lutheran Church of North Charleston, SC and served as church council member, taught Sunday School, Vacation Bible School and confirmation classes. Adele served as treasurer of Sunday School, president of Women of the Church (WELCA). She was awarded a Certificate of Appreciation by the Christian Education Committee and an Honorary Life Time Membership. Adele continued to serve as a volunteer with Lutheran Social Services.
She is survived by her sons, George Luther Rosebrock Jr. and his wife, Sharon, of Mount Pleasant, SC and Del A. Rosebrock and his wife Deborah, of Columbia, SC, grandchildren, Tradd Rosebrock, Shay Zepp, Ashley Tolson, Courtney Bessinger, Allyson Small, and their spouses; ten great grandchildren; and brother, Joe Ben Ackerman of Cottageville, SC. She was preceded in death by her husband, a brother, M.L. Ackerman, Jr., and four sisters, Alta Michael, Vera Brantley, Mary Adams, and Eleanor Boozer.
