Adele Livaudais Wadick Bland died November 27th, 2025, in Charleston, South Carolina at age 88. She was the daughter of James Kingsland Wadick and Adele Livaudais Wadick, both of New Orleans, where she grew up and lived until her marriage. She was a graduate of the Louise S. McGehee School and Tulane University. Nicknamed “Dee” by her older brother, she was the widow of Dr. Robert Purdy Bland, Jr. Following her marriage to Robert in 1959, they lived in France, California, and Boston before returning to live in his hometown of Sumter, South Carolina. Upon Robert’s retirement, they moved to Kiawah Island and then later to Charleston. In addition to enjoying spending time with family and friends, Dee had a lifelong interest in cooking and was an avid reader.
Dee is survived by three sons: Robert Purdy Bland III of Atlanta; Myles Curtis Perrin Bland (Susan), and Kingsland Wadick Bland (Rebie) and two grandchildren, King and Marlee, all of Charleston. She is also survived by a brother, James Kingsland Wadick III, of New Orleans. Dee was predeceased by an infant daughter, Lauren Adele. The graveside celebration will be held at Magnolia Cemetery on Saturday, December 6, 2025, at 11:00 a.m. The family invites you to join them for food and refreshments following the service at the home of Kingsland W. Bland. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Louise S. McGehee School of New Orleans or to the Lowcountry Food Bank. Arrangements by J. Henry Stuhr, Inc., Charleston Chapel.
