Ada Lee Baumgartner was born on August 24, 1920 and entered eternal life exactly 92 years later at Bishop Gadsden, Charleston, SC.
She was born in Kansas City, Missouri to the late William Westle Fuller and May Clark Fuller. She was married for 64 years to the late J. Frank Baumgartner.
She is survived by daughters Barbara L. Brewer (Dr. Tom Brewer) of Charleston, SC and Lynn L. Henry (Orville M. Henry, III) of Aiken, SC; grandsons Dr. Matthew Brown (Kathy) of Linwood, Kansas; Patrick Brown (Caroline) of Charleston, SC; Kyle Henry (Jennifer) of Dallas, Texas; and Brian Henry (Tracy) of Amherst, Massachusetts. She is also survived by nine great grandchildren, one great-great granddaughter and her brother-in-law, Paul C. Baumgartner (Linda) of Colorado Springs, CO.
She attended Stephens College in Columbia, Missouri and graduated from the University of Kansas with a BA in Music. She was a member of Gamma Phi Beta-Sigma Chapter and a lifetime member of University of Kansas Alumnae Association.
Ada Lee was a member of the Village United Presbyterian Church in Prairie Village, Kansas and actively volunteered as choir member, bell-choir member, Circle Chairwoman and organist for the children's choirs. She volunteered in the community serving with the following organizations: Philharmonic ORchestra Board, Kansas City Symphony, PTA, Girl Scouts and Pan-Hellenic Council. For over 30 years she devoted time and energy to the Gamma Phi Beta Alumnae Association, serving in many capacities. In addition to her family, her next greatest love was the gift of music.
A special thank you to the dedicated, loving staff of Bishop Gadsden Read Cloisters, who became her dear friends: Nicole, Debbie, Thelma, Carolyn, Hannah, Maria, Keisha, Lindsay, Jennifer, Lynn, David, Cruz and many others who brightened her day. The family is also thankful for the support of the Odyssey Hospice team.
A celebration of her life will be held in the Bishop Gadsden Chapel on Monday, August 27, 2012 at 10:30 a.m. Interment and a memorial service will be held in Kansas City, at a later date.
