He was born August 23, 1926 in Charleston, South Carolina, son of Isadore Solomon and Katie Coplan Solomon. Bernard graduated from The Citadel as well as the University of South Carolina School of Law, using his education to lead an extremely well-respected career as an Attorney at Law. In addition, he represented Lawyers Title Insurance Company for over 50 years. His passion for the law lead him to help many young lawyers as they began their careers, even helping them find clients. Bernard was an admirer of beautiful things, including antiques, art, and design aesthetics. This admiration for beautiful design lead him to his own endeavors in art, including painting and successfully undertaking the design of his own house. He loved travel and also enjoyed providing out-of-town friends with personal tours of the Charleston area, giving them a glimpse of his enjoyment of local history in the process. His enthusiasm permeated all of his endeavors and lead him to being very active within the local Jewish Community, even serving as a past President of Synagogue Emanu-El and President of B'nai B'rith. Additionally he served as Attorney on Board of the Y.W.C.A of downtown Charleston and as a trustee of the Saul Alexander Foundation.

Bernard is survived by his loving wife of 67 years, Theresa; two daughters, Raina S. Rubin (Phil) and Diane S. Budman (Donald); a son, A. Fred Solomon (Jan); all of Charleston. He is also survived by eight grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
